Blood Donation - Save Lives, Make a Difference

Blood donation is one of the most selfless acts you can perform. A single donation can be separated into red cells, plasma and platelets, so it can help more than one patient. Learn how you can become a blood donor and help those in need.

Why Donate Blood?

  • • One donation can help more than one patient
  • • Help patients in emergency situations
  • • Support cancer patients and surgery cases
  • • Contribute to your community's health
  • • Regular donations help maintain blood supply

Blood Donation Requirements

  • • Adult, in good health, and above the minimum weight and haemoglobin level
  • • Gap between whole-blood donations: 90 days (men), 120 days (women). Why the gap differs
  • • The blood bank checks everything again before you donate

Exact age, weight and haemoglobin cutoffs are set by the National Blood Transfusion Council (NBTC) guidelines and can change. Ask your blood bank if you are unsure.
